Goggles/Mask Safety With thousands of paintballs traveling 200 miles per hour across the field, there is only one thing that will protect you eyes from severe injury--your goggles/mask system. Most commercial paintball fields have designated areas where you may remove your goggles, but the playing field is not one of those places. When you are on the field (or in any other “goggles on” area), never remove your goggles for any reason. Whether you’re goggles are “fogged” or you have been eliminated, keep your goggles on at all times. Remember just because you’ve been hit doesn’t mean that the paint is going to stop flying, even if you are the last played taken out. If you are not playing at an established paintball field, keep your goggles on at all times. Another good goggle rule to follow is this: If there is a barrel cover removed from any marker, make sure your goggles are on, even if it is in the safe zone. Never wear shop goggles, ski goggles, military goggles, motocross goggles, or any other goggles that are not designed for paintball. They simply will not have the impact resistance or total eye coverage necessary to stop 15-plus balls per second coming at you. The only goggles you should wear for paintball are those made specifically for paintball play. | |
